Alyssa Game Mannequins Chase: Escape Routes and Mechanics

The Alyssa game mannequins chase triggers when you take the silver key from the wooden doll's hand. To survive the encounter, keep direct line of sight on the pursuing figures, move backward along the corridor, and crouch through the low exit.

Triggering the Mannequin Pursuit

The chase sequence begins in the basement corridor system shortly after Emily disappears. Alyssa must first resolve the three-valve sequence (turning green first, blue second, and yellow third) to unlock access to the deeper storage room. Inside this chamber, bloodstains cover the tiles and broken glass litters the ground.

At the far end of this area sits a motionless mannequin holding a silver key. Interacting with the hand with the E key adds the silver key to Alyssa's inventory. The moment Alyssa takes the item, the seated figure shifts, and hostile mannequins activate in the surrounding corridors.

Pursuit Mechanics and Movement Rules

The pursuing figures operate on line-of-sight tracking. When Alyssa looks directly at them, their movement speed drops or halts entirely. Turning your back or looking away allows them to advance rapidly toward your position. In an official reply on the Steam discussion forums, Broken Arrow Games explained that surviving this sequence requires paying attention to surroundings and learning how each enemy behaves instead of simply sprinting blindly from one point to another.

Official patch notes document specific balance adjustments to this section. In Update 0.3, the developers removed one chasing mannequin from the escape route and altered their poses to communicate threat levels more clearly. Update 0.4 further reduced the movement speed of the remaining pursuit figures, giving players a wider reaction window. Managing light mechanics with the F key remains necessary, as navigating dark turns without illumination can cause Alyssa to lose sight of approaching figures.

Escape Path and Crouching Mechanics

Escaping requires returning to the main hallway while keeping the mannequins contained in your forward vision cone.

  1. Take the silver key from the mannequin's hand and immediately step backward rather than turning around completely.
  2. Backpedal along the central walkway, keeping the primary pursuing mannequin centered on your screen.
  3. Steer clear of the broken glass scattered on the floor. Stepping on glass shards triggers loud audio cues that signal your exact location.
  4. Locate the second mannequin that attempts to cut off the corridor bend. Adjust your camera angle so both figures remain within your viewing frame.
  5. Reach the low doorway frame near the exit. Press Left Control to drop into a crouch. Alyssa cannot pass through this barrier standing up, and the mannequins cannot follow through the narrow opening.

Once Alyssa crawls beneath the partition, the pursuit disengages, and the game triggers an automatic progress save.

Movement Tactics Comparison

Players can approach the escape corridor using different movement methods depending on current match reserves and spatial awareness.

Movement ChoiceRecommended ScenarioTrade-Off
Backward retreat with match litDirect encounters in wide hallwaysConsumes match duration rapidly
Controlled backpedal in darknessConserving inventory across memorized cornersHigher risk of stepping on noisy floor glass
Forward sprint toward low openingFinal stretch when the exit passage is visibleLeaves Alyssa vulnerable to flanking mannequins
